How to pack a long weekend into one bag
A three-layer packing method: what goes in the bottom, what goes on top and what stays out for the train.

Start with the shoes
Boots go in first, toes to the corners. They are the heaviest thing you carry and the only thing that is stiff, so they set the shape of the bag.
Then roll, do not fold
Knits and jerseys roll tight and fit around the boots. Trousers fold once. Your jacket does not go in the bag at all: you wear it.
Leave one pocket empty
Whatever you are bringing home from the trip needs somewhere to go. Leave the outside pocket empty and you will not have to unpack in the station.
